7-Day Deep Dive
A week lets you slow the pace of the 3-day route down and add day trips without feeling rushed either way.
Days 1–3
- Follow the 3-Day First-Timer Route in full — it front-loads the essentials.
Day 4 — Otaku culture
- Morning: Akihabara's electronics and hobby floors
- Afternoon: Ikebukuro's Sunshine City and Otome Road
- Evening: Ramen alley near Ikebukuro's west exit
Day 5 — Day trip: Kamakura or Nikko
- Choose based on interest — Kamakura for coastal temples and the Great Buddha, Nikko for mountain shrines and waterfalls
- Both are comfortably doable round-trip in a day by train
Day 6 — Day trip: Hakone
- Onsen towns, Mount Fuji views (weather permitting), and the Hakone Open-Air Museum
- The Hakone Free Pass covers most of the day's local transport in one ticket
Day 7 — Slow morning, last-minute shopping
- Morning: Whichever neighbourhood you didn't get back to
- Afternoon: Depachika food-hall shopping for gifts to take home
- Evening: A final meal somewhere you already know you liked
